We’re excited to bring you the next installment of our Member Spotlight series, which will focus on various members of The Strength House who exemplify the core values of who we are and what we do! Our next installment features Jarell, a psychologist by day and Swole Soldier by night who’s shown us how to be strong in body AND mind.
Name: Jarell Myers
Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica
Spirit Animal: Lobster (Ask Nancy for details)
What do you like to do when you’re not training? I’m a nerd so I like putting together puzzles, trying out new beers (Thanks for introducing me to Tree House) and watching bad TV.
What brought you to The Strength House? I was looking for a gym to get back in shape and would fit in with my work schedule. I came across the website after a Google search and the rest is history.
What is your proudest accomplishment since joining The Strength House? Hitting 245 on the bench was incredible for me, I absolutely did not expect it.
It’s Peak Weak for our Conquer group, and @jahmericansyco_phd got us started on the right foot. Full power testing before the big man heads off on vacation, and his progress over the last 12 weeks has been insane: SSB Squat 335 ➡️405 Bench 245➡️300 (Epic battle!) Deadlift 405 (trap bar) ➡️465 (sumo) That’s in 12 weeks! Congrats Dr. J, we are so proud of you!!! #thestrengthhouse #trainwithapurpose
Besides the training, what’s your favorite part of being a Strength House member? Talking to Greg, Tony and Nancy, hanging out with Behr, Brooke and Eddie, and being a part of the National Air Hockey League of America.
What motivates you to keep training hard? I’m genuinely inspired by the other folks in Conquer and want to push myself as hard as I see them pushing themselves.
